I grew up as a normal active kid that loved playing sports, softball, golf and volleyball were a few of my favourites. My dad was often my coach and he taught me the value the hard work and I loved being part of a team.

Even though I was active, I was still “chunky”. I struggled with poor body image and found comfort and distraction in food. I felt like I had no control, that “it was in my genes” to be overweight, so I gave up on myself and accepted that there was nothing I could do. I rarely cooked, didn’t move my body and my diet was largely fast food, pop and chips. I made many attempts to lose the weight, but always ended up gaining it all back. I

 

n my 30’s I finally woke up. At over 350Ibs, I was depressed, I lost myself in my career, and I let my wellbeing and health take a back seat. I saw where my bad habits were leading me, change was needed, I had no idea what to do or where to start.

I started small and made a commitment to myself to get moving 3 days a week and to “eat better”. That snowballed into going to the gym 6 days a week and working with a personal trainer. Life happens and my journey was not easy, it was not linear, and I spent almost a year without any progress because I didn’t realize my own potential.  

 

That set me on the path to my current coach who guided me on my personal transformation and allowed me the space to grow into the person I am today. I’ve built healthy habits around
nutrition and exercise, started meditating, devoured anything I could find on personal and mindset development and worked each day to reflect on how I could be 1% better.  I’m forever grateful that I found a coach who helped me not only lose the weight, taught me the power of discipline and consistency and the importance of getting out of your comfort zone for growth. I’ve always had a passion for helping others reach their goals and firmly believe being healthy is more than just weight-loss. It is finding the right recipe of nutrition, lifestyle, mindset and environment to support long term success.
